Battery tray
17 November 2002 by Kerry
tiger The battery tray, which sits above the passenger's feet, was one of the easier panels to cut and fit, remembering not to rivet the areas where the tunnel top or outer side panel will fit (I got as far as drilling the holes in the panel at the side, but fortunately spotted my mistake before drilling the chassis).

A big hole has to be drilled towards the back to allow the wiring loom to pass through. It's probably easier to start with the loom above the panel and thread it down, but as I'd already attached it along the tunnel I had to do it the other way. After removing the fuses and flasher units and separating it into its two halves, the fusebox just squeezed through, but the hole turned out to be too big to hold the grommet securely, so I had to cut out a C-shaped piece of aluminium from an offcut and rivet it on, as shown in the second photo.
