Hub nuts undone
19 January 2003 by Kerry
tiger It may not sound like much, but getting the hub nuts undone so I can dismantle and clean the rest of the rear suspension has been holding up progress for far too long. A sensible person would have undone them while they were still on the car, but that didn't cross my mind at the time.

The nuts are done up so tight that it's virtually impossible to undo them without securing the trailing arm assembly somehow. I ended up putting each one under the Land Rover bumper and holding it down with a jack, then putting a crowbar between two wheel studs to stop the driveshaft rotating and using a cold chisel and lump hammer to turn the nut (I couldn't get enough force with a socket, even with a long bar, and the nuts will need replacing anyway). Don't forget that one side has a right-hand thread.
